These days Isha has been making more intentional noises. Whistles, pops, purrs and coos. It is so beautiful to watch her discover all the facets of her voice. Just like when I was a kid, and first heard the sound of my voice after inhaling helium. The surprise in my face, and curiosity of what it meant. Would I sound like this forever? I see this same curiosity in Isha as she explores her different sounds.
Just as Helium can be a fun party game, it can also be used in deep sea diving to help the divers maintain a stable mind. It reduces toxicity and speeds up decompression. It connects us to our communication in an alternative way that is both exciting and functional in the right scenarios.
This is the way I want to encourage Isha to communicate. There is a way to refine our communication in such a way that we can be beloved, non-toxic, and functional even in the most serious of circumstances.
