Day 6: Attachment and Freedom

February 3 @ 8:00 am - 8:30 am
Virtual Event

Chakra: Root

Meridians: Kidney, Liver, Pericardium

Emotions: Attachment and Freedom.

Today we are transitioning to the Root Chakra. In Sanskrit it is called Muladhara. The glands are the adrenal glands (fight or flight).

Here is where our base instincts reside, and subsequently many of our limitations. Fear rules the disharmonious emotions which are correlated with this energy center, and attachment to our bodily needs can cause us to take too much and hold on to what we don’t need. These propensities weigh us down, cause excess weight, disrupt our ability to expel, and clog up the remaining system.

Contrary to popular belief, attachments are not intrinsically bad. The attachments that mammals develop are a large reason why they are successful. We need a mother to be attached to her child so that she feeds them and care for their development. The success of a herd is proportionate to their ability to rely on, trust and work together as a team in most cases. In a more human and spiritual context, we need to be attached to our body so that we stay incarnated here.

An attachment can become a hinderance when it is driven by fear, trauma, control, or confusion. We balance these unhealthy attachments with Freedom. The remembrance that we have free will to choose, and that if we choose wrong, we can always choose again. This is the release of being bound, and the freedom to choose our attachments from a place of love, freedom, healthy commitment and acceptance.
